Tesla Powerwall 3 San Diego
Professional Powerwall 3
Installation in San Diego
The Powerwall 3 is Tesla's most advanced home battery yet. A single unit can power your entire home during a grid outage — and it switches over the moment an outage is detected, with no delay. That's a meaningful difference when you're running medical equipment, refrigerators, or a home office.
What sets the Powerwall 3 apart from previous models is the fully integrated solar inverter built directly into the unit. That means fewer boxes on your wall, fewer components to fail, and a simpler installation for your home. If you're adding solar at the same time, it's the most efficient path to energy independence available for San Diego homeowners today.
As a Tesla Certified Powerwall installer, Always On Electric handles everything from permit to final inspection. We've completed installations all across San Diego County and know the SDG&E utility interconnection process inside and out.

Fewer components = faster install = lower labor cost
-
Expandable up to 10 units as your needs grow

Captures more solar than AC-coupled battery systems
-
Optimizes around 48-hour weather and rate forecasts
-
Supports NEM net metering and virtual power plant programs

COMMON QUESTIONS
Powerwall 3 FAQs — San Diego
Q
How much does a Powerwall 3 cost installed in San Diego?
Installed cost depends on your home's electrical panel, whether you're adding solar, and the number of units. We provide a flat-rate written quote with no surprises before any work begins. Call or fill out the form for a free on-site estimate specific to your home.
Q
Do I need solar to install a Powerwall 3?
No. Powerwall 3 can be installed without solar and will charge from the grid during off-peak SDG&E rate hours, then discharge during expensive peak hours to lower your bill. However, pairing it with solar significantly increases your savings and provides true energy independence during outages.
Q
Will I need an electrical panel upgrade for Powerwall 3?
Not always. Powerwall 3 is designed to be installable on most standard 200A panels. If your home has a smaller or older panel we'll identify that during the estimate visit and include a panel upgrade in the quote if needed. We only recommend it when the panel genuinely requires it.
Q
Are there any rebates or incentives for Powerwall 3 in San Diego?
With the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) going away there are a number of financing options that offer you the same level of savings as the 30% tax credit. You may also qualify for additional rebates through SGIP and SDCP.
Q
Can one Powerwall 3 really back up my whole house?
Yes. Unlike older battery systems that only protected select circuits, a single Powerwall 3 has the output capacity to run an entire home. It switches over instantly when an outage is detected — no 2–5 second delay. For homes with very high energy loads or extended outage concern, stacking a second unit is an easy add.
Q
How long does a Powerwall 3 installation take?
A standard Powerwall 3 installation at a home with an adequate panel typically takes one day. If a panel upgrade is required it may extend to two days. We handle the SDG&E interconnection application and city permit — final inspection typically happens within one to two weeks of installation, after which your system is fully live.
