Enphase IQ Battery 10C · San Diego

Professional Enphase IQ Battery Installation in San Diego

The Enphase IQ Battery 10C is Enphase's most advanced home battery yet. A single unit delivers 10 kWh of usable storage and 7.08 kW of continuous power enough to keep your essentials, mini-split AC, fridge, lights, and Wi-Fi running the moment the grid goes down. That's a meaningful difference when you're running medical equipment, refrigerators, or a home office during an outage.

What sets the 10C apart from older batteries is its all-in-one design. Four IQ8 microinverters are built directly into the unit, so it handles both 240V and 120V loads with no separate neutral-forming hardware, fewer components to fail, and a faster, cleaner installation. If you already have Enphase microinverter solar, the 10C bolts right onto your existing system with zero inverter changes, no efficiency loss, and the same Enphase app you already use.

As a licensed San Diego electrical contractor (CSLB #1087774, C-10), Always On Electric handles everything from permit through final inspection. We've done installations across San Diego County and we know the SDG&E interconnection process inside and out.

Why Enphase

Why Every San Diego Homeowner Should Consider the Enphase IQ Battery

Five reasons the IQ Battery 10C is the smartest home-energy investment for San Diego homes specifically.

Key Benefit 01

Seamless Enphase Solar Integration

Roughly 60–70% of California solar homes run on Enphase microinverters. If yours is one of them, the 10C is the natural choice. It AC-couples to your existing array with no inverter swap, no DC reconfiguration, and no lost efficiency.

  • Plugs into your existing Enphase system

  • One app for solar + battery + EV charging

  • Same warranty umbrella across the whole system

Key Benefit 04

True Whole-Home Backup

Paired with the Enphase IQ System Controller, the 10C powers your home the instant the grid goes down — switchover in under 50 milliseconds. Power Start™ (90A LRA) starts demanding loads like AC compressors and pool pumps without stalling.

  • Sub-50ms transition during an outage

  • Power Start™ handles big motor loads

  • Stack up to 8 units for extended resilience

Key Benefit 02

Lower SDG&E Bills Under NEM 3.0

The 10C stores your solar energy so you use more of it after the sun goes down, when SDG&E rates are highest. The Enphase app automatically optimizes charging and discharging around time-of-use windows.

  • Shifts stored energy to peak-price hours

  • Optimizes around SDG&E rate schedules

  • Maximizes self-consumption under NEM 3.0

Key Benefit 05

Works With Your EV

The Enphase IQ EV Charger coordinates with the 10C and your solar through one app. Charge your car straight from excess solar, or schedule charging for off-peak SDG&E windows.

  • Charge your EV directly from solar

  • Off-peak scheduling to cut charging costs

  • One Enphase ecosystem, one app

Key Benefit 03

Built for San Diego's Climate

LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry is cobalt-free, thermally stable, and built for heat. The 10C operates from 14°F to 122°F and is UL 9540A fire-safety certified.

  • Performs in heat, humidity, and coastal air

  • Cobalt-free LFP chemistry — safer and longer-lasting

  • UL 9540A certified for strict California fire codes

COMMON QUESTIONS

Enphase IQ Battery FAQs — San Diego

Q

How much does an Enphase IQ Battery cost installed in San Diego?

Cost depends on how many units you need, your panel, and any electrical upgrades. We give you a clear flat-rate quote up front.

Q

Do I need solar to install the IQ Battery?

With the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) going away there are a number of financing options that offer the same level of savings as the 30% tax credit. You may also qualify for additional rebates through SGIP and SDCP.

Q

Will I need to upgrade my service panel?

Usually not. The 10C connects to your existing panel through the IQ Combiner and IQ System Controller. Some older 100-amp services may need an upgrade or a load-management device — we'll identify that during the on-site estimate and include it in your quote, so there are no surprises.

Q

Are there any rebates or incentives for Enphase IQ Battery in San Diego?

With the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) going away there are a number of financing options that offer the same level of savings as the 30% tax credit. You may also qualify for additional rebates through SGIP and SDCP.

Q

Can one IQ Battery really back up my whole house?

A single 10C (10 kWh / 7.08 kW) comfortably runs essentials plus a mini-split AC for 12–36 hours depending on load. For full whole-home backup including central AC and major appliances, we typically install two units — and the system stacks up to 8 units if you need more.

Q

How long does an IQ Battery installation take?

A typical single-unit install takes 3–5 hours; two units for whole-home backup is usually a single day on-site. If a panel upgrade is required it may extend a day. We handle the SDG&E interconnection and city permitting — final inspection typically happens within a week or two of install, after which your system is fully live.
